My fabulous Martin which does not get played as much as it deserveds to these days. After Pam bought it for me, as I was a poor researcher then, in 1992, we used it all the time for everything.

The bridge starting rising in 2005 making the guitar difficult to play - after an email discussion with Martin I filed down the bridge and lowered the saddle and reinforced that general area with some mahogany underneath the bridge plate and it is as good as ever again.

This instrument is serial 476936 and therefore I believe manufactured in 1988 - according to the web site, the last serial numbers for the years are :

1986 468175
1987 476216
1988 483952

so my guitar must have been made around early Feb, 1988. Bought in April 1992 for £1360, used, from Cookes in Norwich just before going to Skye climbing.

This guitar has a great big warm bass and well defined trebles. Pam does not like singing with this instrument probably because of its powerful sound. It flatpicks very well. I origianally fitted a Martin Thinline pickup to this guitar which was used with the Trace and the Acoustic Blender but have changed this to an active I-Beam pickup under the reinforced bridge.
