This large guitar was made to order for me by Rob, a fabulous luthier living in Coventry, England. I had to wait nearly two years; in this time my "small bodied instrument to complement the Martin D41" had been transformed in Rob's mind to this finger-style monster.
I must admit it was a challenge to play during its first few years - but it has played in beautifully, the top has honeyed up and it is now just fabulous. The construction is very light which makes the guitar very responsive and allows 11-gauge strings to be used for even easier play and longevity of the instrument.
The serial is No. 507/1993, bought in the summer of 1993 for £900 (he completed instrument 790 for Maartin Allcock in January 2009 ). A solid sitka spruce top is complemented by Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. A mahogany neck is topped by a Brazilian Rosewood finger board, this reclaimed from some steps in from a church in Coventry. The rosette and headstock are walnut burr.
